Recognizing this transformation, the Centre of Excellence (CoE), Maharana Pratap Institute of Technology, Gorakhpur, proudly presents the inaugural issue of CoE Tech Pulse, a weekly technology intelligence digest designed to bridge the gap between technological developments and academic learning.
Unlike a conventional newsletter, CoE Tech Pulse aims to provide curated technology intelligence by highlighting significant developments from Uttar Pradesh, India and across the globe. Each edition focuses not only on 'what happened', but also on 'why it matters', 'what opportunities it creates' and 'how students, researchers, startups and innovators can benefit from these developments'.

Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 Creates History
India marked a historic milestone in its space journey with the successful launch of Vikram-1, the country's first privately developed orbital launch vehicle, by Skyroot Aerospace. The mission represents a significant leap in India's rapidly expanding commercial space ecosystem and demonstrates the growing capabilities of indigenous private enterprises in advanced aerospace engineering.
Designed as a small satellite launch vehicle, Vikram-1 incorporates several cutting-edge technologies including advanced composite structures, modular architecture and next-generation propulsion systems. A Bold Push Towards Deep-Tech Innovation

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has unveiled the Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy 2026, introducing one of the country's most ambitious frameworks to strengthen the state's innovation and startup ecosystem. The policy reflects a strategic shift from promoting general entrepreneurship to fostering Deep-Tech innovation across sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Drone Technology, Space Technology, Semiconductor Design, Quantum Computing, Biotechnology and Climate Technology.
A key highlight of the policy is the creation of a ₹1,000 crore Startup Fund, designed to improve access to capital for early-stage startups. The policy also provides enhanced support for prototype development, seed funding, cloud infrastructure and startup sustenance, making Uttar Pradesh an increasingly attractive destination for innovators and technology entrepreneurs.
Special incentives have also been introduced to encourage women entrepreneurs and promote innovation in aspirational regions, including Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.

NIDAR 2.0: Building the Next Generation of Indigenous Smart Drones
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Drone Federation of India, has launched NIDAR 2.0, a national innovation challenge aimed at accelerating India's indigenous drone ecosystem. The initiative encourages students, startups, innovators and academic institutions to design intelligent drones powered by India's indigenous VEGA (RISC-V) processor.
Unlike conventional drone competitions, NIDAR 2.0 focuses on developing complete intelligent drone solutions integrating embedded systems, AI-based navigation, autonomous flight capabilities and indigenous computing hardware. 45-Day Summer Training Programme Concludes Successfully
The Centre of Excellence (CoE), Maharana Pratap Institute of Technology (MPIT), Gorakhpur successfully concluded its 45-Day Summer Training Programme (1 June – 18 July 2026) with a Valedictory and Certificate Distribution Ceremony held on 18 July 2026.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across multiple institutions, providing them with hands-on exposure to emerging technologies through practical sessions, industry-oriented projects, expert lectures, presentations and assessments.
A total of 103 participants successfully completed various training programmes conducted under the Centre of Excellence, spanning AI Native Engineers, Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Certified Programme in CAD & 3D Printing, and Drone Design, Assembly and Flight Operations.
Throughout the programme, participants worked on practical assignments, live demonstrations, mini-projects and final presentations designed to strengthen their technical competencies and problem-solving skills. The valedictory ceremony was graced by distinguished academicians and industry experts, who appreciated the Centre of Excellence for creating a multidisciplinary learning ecosystem focused on future technologies.
